I’m Jeffrey Johnstone, author of the novel Dryfe Sands. I like to read about historical events and for most of my life I have been particularly interested in Scottish history.  I’ve spent many hours poring over primary documents from the past, imagining what life must have been like for out ancestors.

Besides being an author, I’m a lawyer and former Naval officer.  I’m a graduate of Colgate University and Cornell Law School and I also have a Master’s Degree from Georgetown University. I play the highland bagpipes and I’m interested in genealogy and forestry. I’m a Fellow of the Society of Antiquarians of Scotland and a member of the Heraldry Society of Scotland. I live in Rochester, New York, and the New York Finger Lakes with my wife, Martha, and my Scottish Terrier, Alastair.
